After wrapping up the day’s callout and re-packing the team vehicles, we had a brief period to grab some dinner then it was off to Kentmere reservoir for our planned training scenarios. This involved night time navigation over open ground to find objects scattered over a wide area using core navigation skills and no digital technology.
Once the teams had achieved the aims of the exercise we stayed at the barracks lodge in Kentmere and enjoyed a BBQ and stories around the firepit.
As daybreak arrived it was interesting to see the avalanche debris still evident on some fell tops.
The team would very much like to thank Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council for the use of the barracks; an excellent base for our training.
